Cas van der Steen

Mushrooms have long been used to support the health and wellness of the body, mind and spirit. Even now and already for millennia mushrooms have maintained a constant role in our culture and history. Influenced by the disciplines art, science and spirituality I create sculptural works that allow you to experience different interpretations on the concept of the mycelium-like connectivity in our diverged society.

In the course of my studies Art&Research at AKV St. Joost, I discovered that my work is community driven. In my Art I strive to connect people in unexpected ways. Participants working together or seperately to create one big sculpture. My art works vary often but always come from a notion of belonging to a bigger whole.

Cas van der Steen is currently living and working in Rotterdam. Besides his job at Boijmans Depot he aspires to make a lot of new works every few months. Those works can be seen and purchased at this website through email, Art Rdam 24 or in the flower store Nr.6 in Hilvarenbeek.
